While sitting with her chicks, a red-tailed hawk looks to the sky for her mate. Red-tailed hawks will lay 1-4 eggs which will fledge later in July. Look in the tops of lodge pole pine trees or in the sky for hovering adults before they dive for a ground squirrel or other rodent. Also, listen for the rasping, scraping scream that is distinct to this hawk.
