After spending the summer at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, three whooping cranes have returned to Iowa. They spend most of their time in a local wetland and feed briefly in the surrounding picked cornfields. Wetlands are an extremely important habitat for these birds. Thanks to the NRCS, DNR, WRP and other programs these birds and other waterfowl can return home to Iowa.
